Get out the notepad and jot down these pointers.  That’s right… it’s time for another Decorating Solutions Tip of the Week!  This week’s tip comes from Interior Designer Patti Stindt. Patti works at our Madison store, and helps customers in the area create the homes of their dreams.  She has some easy suggestions for transforming your patio with some summer sizzle.

Patti says, “There are many easy, fun, and inexpensive ways to turn your outdoor area into a fun and colorful place to hang out. Make your patio more of an outdoor room, and an extension of the home (cushioned wicker sets like the one below are all the rage now!) There are many comfortable seating and dining options that are outdoor friendly. You can also accessorize your outdoor space… with plants, lighting, and fabrics.”

DS Tip of the Week: Using Decorative Lighting After the Holidays

Thanks to all of our blog fans for checking out the Steinhafels #DecoratingSolutions Tip of the Week every Monday.  We started the Tip of the Week in late 2015, and we’re excited to bring you our first full year of weekly tips in 2016!!

This week we look at ways you can still enjoy indoor decorative lighting, even once the holidays are over.

I don’t know if you are like me, but I like having soft, decorative lights in my living room year-round.  They add a warmth and comfort, along with a festive feel, without being overbearing.

This brings us to our tip from Appleton-based Interior Decorator Laura Hoffman:

“I love mixing white lights with natural elements, and then adding some bling — such as Mercury glass and a mirror over a mantel.  Like in this picture — the mirror reflects light, and gives a small room the illusion of being larger.”

So go ahead and keep that strand of white lights out post-holidays, or even snazz your room up with some soft blue or gold lights!
