Do you sometimes need an escape within your own home? Do you have a random nook in your house that you’re not fully utilizing? Turn it into your own personal “shed” within the home!
This week’s Decorating Solutions Tip of the Week comes from Interior Designer Beth Kealy of our Menomonee Falls Superstore.
Beth explains, “In case you don’t have a shed in your backyard, it’s possible to create a relaxing cozy space to unwind in any location within your home. For example, this space (pictured) was repurposed from random furniture that had been inherited or purchased at low cost…”
“…It was an office space barely being used, and was converted to a beautiful retreat for relaxing and watching TV.”
Seems easy enough right? However, sometimes it helps to have a little help from an expert. Beth adds, “If you have a room that needs a transformation, Steinhafels Decorating Solutions staff are ready to make the magic happen!”
We post a different quick and easy decor tip every Monday. Check in next week for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
It’s time for another Decorating Solutions Tip of the Week. This week, it only makes sense with the Olympics in full swing that we talk GOLD!
Gold isn’t only for Olympic medals and jewelry. Gold accents can be a great way to update a space. It doesn’t matter if it’s traditional, casual or modern – gold is coming back!
Patti Stindt is one of the awesome designers based out of our new Madison East store on High Crossing Boulevard. Patti assures us that we’re not talking the gaudy, overbearing golds of yesteryear – these finishes are matte or brushed and very on-trend!
Patti explains, “This can be done through accessories like lamps, art, and pillows. Even occasional tables can join the fun! Also, don’t be afraid to mix metals. Just like woods, we can definitively have a mixture for some variety – just stick to two metal finishes if possible.”
Gold is also very versatile! Patti adds, “Gold is a warmer metal, but can be an excellent companion to cooler colors like blues and grays – creating high contrast and drama. And we can always pair it with the warmer colors like reds, yellows, and oranges to create a warm, cozy space.”
You could be the next one standing atop the medal podium – go for the GOLD in your home decor! Tune in next week for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
It may be warming up a bit outside, but with our long, cold winters who doesn’t want to snuggle up on the sectional and read a good book? At Steinhafels, we can help make sure you have perfect, stylish lighting to enjoy that book for hours and not worry about eye strain.

Beth explains, “At Steinhafels we have many beautiful arc lamps that can fit behind your sectional to give you perfect lighting. Some are wired with a dimmer feature, while others have a one, two or three lights on feature. Choose the style and function that best fits your needs. Get ready to cozy up!”

Tis the season–a Decorating Solutions Tip Of The Week with a holiday flare! We’re talking Mongolian Fur, which is very on-trend this season. Adding color and texture can be as easy as adding some simple accent pillows.
Interior Designer Patti Stindt is doing the heavy lifting this week. Patti is based at our new Steinhafels on High Crossing Boulevard on Madison’s east side.
Patti suggests, “Use a variety of different sizes and color, or go monochromatic. No matter what style you are, Mongolian Fur can make a space super chic by adding in the cream pillows with a modern lined sofa.”
Patti adds, “You could also go casual cozy with a tufted leather sofa and a variety of the pillows. It’s all about layering in the textures. We can also create a very upscale, luxurious feel with chenille fabric, and the mixture of the fur. It will give it an edgy feel. I would even introduce a nice textured throw to coordinate.”
Have fun and get warm and cozy with Mongolian fur! Check in next Monday for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
Well Fall, it’s been nice knowing you, but according to weather reports we could be seeing our first flurries this week. That means it’s time to bring out all those throws you’ve been storing for the summer, and cuddle up on the couch with a good book or Netflix, your dog or cat, and a glass of wine.
Just because you are cozy doesn’t mean you have to be sloppy. You can snuggle in style! That’s right.. the cold weather offers a whole array of style options, including faux fur.
That brings us to this week’s #DecoratingSolutions Tip of the Week, from none other than one of our Menomonee Falls-based interior design gurus–Aaron Keller!
Aaron explains, “Faux fur can add a unique and elegant texture to any room. Don’t be afraid to have fun and experiment with faux fur pillows or rugs. These are examples of faux fur in homes I completed for clients. Remember as with any throw blanket it should not be folded, but rather tastefully draped on furniture.”
So go ahead.. drape that throw blanket wherever you like. Like Aaron said, have fun with it! We post a quick and easy decor tip each Monday. Check in next week for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
We continue our fall-themed #DecoratingSolutions Tips of the Week! This week we focus on bringing some extra warmth into the home as the mercury drops outside in the coming weeks.
This week’s tip comes from Lori Green, a seasoned designer based at our Greenfield store. Lori says, “We feel the air and temperature changing now, so why not bring a little warmth into your home with the colors of fall, and cozy up to a book and relax by the fire! Create a comfortable setting for your family to relax in. Enjoy your days and evenings inside now by bringing a little of the sunroom furniture in, and incorporate a cozy sofa with some rust colors… adding a beautiful flare of fall in the air.”
Lori adds that you can also get creative and have fun decorating your yard with fall items of various colors and sizes–that you may have thought would never go together! Check out some of these fun pictures she took during a recent trip to Door County. See… even designers can even be inspired sometimes!

Get out the notepad and jot down these pointers. That’s right… it’s time for another Decorating Solutions Tip of the Week! This week’s tip comes from Interior Designer Laura Hoffman. Laura works at our Appleton store, and helps customers in the area create the homes of their dreams. She has some easy suggestions for transforming your front porch with some fall flair.
Laura says, “Mix old distressed items such as lanterns with some natural birch logs and white pumpkins, along with a traditional orange gourd. Fresh flowers and pops of color with fun seasonal pillows are the perfect finishing touch!”
You likely have some of these items in storage, and you can check out a local Farmer’s Market for gourds and other fall-inspired plants! Our designers are hard at work on many more quick and easy design tips for you. Check in next Monday for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
