As a family-owned, local business, Steinhafels is always excited to partner with fellow locals – whether it be non-profits, other businesses, and yes… bloggers!
Today we introduce you to our new guest blogger, Annie, the creator of the blog “DIY Decor Mom: DIYing Between Diaper Changes.”
Annie is a 30-year-old mom of three, who along with her husband, is working on completely renovating their builder-grade 1980’s home into the home of their dreams. She explains, “Our life is crazy but wonderful. I love sharing motherhood hacks and decorating tips for creating a beautiful life and home.”
We actually met Annie through our other fabulous guest blogger, Meg at Green with Decor (us bloggers stick together!)
We met with Annie recently at our Kenosha store, where she picked up her Clarity Sofa Table. It was awesome to meet her three adorable kids.
You can check out Annie’s #sponsored blog post about that Clarity Sofa Table HERE. She has some great tips for styling a console table. Who knew a simple console table could be so functional and stylish at the same time?!
Partnering with talented lifestyle writers like Meg and Annie has been great, and we look forward to seeing what they come up with for future posts.
It’s pretty easy to stay on top of the latest trends and tips in interior design–just check out our Steinhafels #TipofTheWeek every Monday in our BLOG!
We’re a couple weeks into the new year–so it’s a good time to start looking at what’s trending for 2018, and think about how we may be able to incorporate these fresh ideas into our daily design. Our Decorating Solutions Interior Designers are constantly using simple techniques to make dramatic changes that will help your space seem new again. This week’s tip comes from Interior Decorator Cecily Gaitan, who’s based in our Kenosha store.
Cecily has some insight into the Sherwin-Williams “Color of the Year,” and the sort of feelings it evokes. She explains, “Sherwin-Williams Oceanside is the 2018 color of the year. Oceanside SW 6496 is a combination of rich blue and jewel-tone green. According to Sherwin-Williams, Oceanside contains blue which is the favorite color worldwide. Blues evoke intelligence, honesty and interest. This color can be incorporated in many different design styles, including traditional or contemporary. There are many different ways you can put this color on display in your home.”
Cecily goes on to give some practical ideas. “Paint your front door with this fresh and inviting color! Or use it in a home office–the place where your mind works and wonders. This fresh color can help with thinking and creativity. A bedroom or reading area is a perfect place to create an ‘oceanside’ getaway for a relaxing and calming feeling.”
Check in next week for another #DSTipOfTheWeek, and don’t be BLUE. Enjoy some color on these cold, dreary winter days!
When it comes to design, we want it to look great, but also be functional. Especially as the winter months approach, anything that makes life easier, including increased storage space, is a plus!
This week’s Decorating Solutions Tip of the Week explores the fabulous functionality of the ottoman. Rachel Chairez is a new designer at our Kenosha store, and she’s excited to share some of her expertise with us.
Rachel explains, “Most people like to put their feet up when they relax– even on coffee tables. Why not ditch the coffee table and bring in a patterned, upholstered ottoman? You can also bring varied textures into the room by mixing an upholstered sofa with a leather ottoman. Blending texture and colors can create contrasts that are fun to the eye. Worried about losing your storage capabilities that you had in the coffee table? Storage ottomans exist and come in multiple types and styles.”
As you can see in Rachel’s example, you can bring in a fun, ceramic tiled ottoman tray to place on top of the ottoman–that way guests have a solid surface to set their drinks down on! Or looking for a more rustic look? You can also bring in a wood ottoman tray that pairs well with the space. The combinations are endless!
So put those feet up in style, especially after a long Monday! Check in next Monday for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
You can email Rachel at email@example.com if you live in the Kenosha/Racine area and are interested in exploring a new design project!
