It’s the room in our home we all use several times a day, and most guests use at least once or twice a visit – yet it often gets overlooked from a design perspective. For this week’s Decorating Solutions “Tip of the Week” we’re showing some respect to bathrooms everywhere!
This week’s tip is from Oak Creek Interior Designer Jenii Kluver. Jenii is great at thinking outside the box, and bringing an eclectic flair to her designs.
Jenii points out that many people focus on their main entertainment spaces when decorating their homes, because it’s where their guests are going to be spending the most time. However, she adds, “Don’t forget that they will also most likely use your powder room! There are plenty of opportunities to spruce up that spare bathroom. I love using bright blues, grays, and whites for paint colors because it allows the most light to flow through the room. Try using a decorative mirror instead of your basic mirror for a quick update, add fun artwork to take up wall space, and install functional furniture pieces that also provide storage for toiletries.”
Our designers are always ready to share their expertise. Check in next Monday for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
When it comes to design, we want it to look great, but also be functional. Especially as the winter months approach, anything that makes life easier, including increased storage space, is a plus!
This week’s Decorating Solutions Tip of the Week explores the fabulous functionality of the ottoman. Rachel Chairez is a new designer at our Kenosha store, and she’s excited to share some of her expertise with us.
Rachel explains, “Most people like to put their feet up when they relax– even on coffee tables. Why not ditch the coffee table and bring in a patterned, upholstered ottoman? You can also bring varied textures into the room by mixing an upholstered sofa with a leather ottoman. Blending texture and colors can create contrasts that are fun to the eye. Worried about losing your storage capabilities that you had in the coffee table? Storage ottomans exist and come in multiple types and styles.”
As you can see in Rachel’s example, you can bring in a fun, ceramic tiled ottoman tray to place on top of the ottoman–that way guests have a solid surface to set their drinks down on! Or looking for a more rustic look? You can also bring in a wood ottoman tray that pairs well with the space. The combinations are endless!
So put those feet up in style, especially after a long Monday! Check in next Monday for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
You can email Rachel at email@example.com if you live in the Kenosha/Racine area and are interested in exploring a new design project!
It’s summer, which is often a time we try to de-clutter, and “air out” our homes. No one wants to be crammed into an overpacked, stuffy room during these hot and humid months. One way to cut the clutter–use furniture with multi-purpose!
It’s time for your #DSTipOfTheWeek! This is where our expert interior designers offer simple, easy tips that you may have never thought about, or have overlooked. This week’s tip comes from Decorating Solutions designer Dawn Adamec, who calls our Waukesha store home.
Dawn uses this Juno Storage Cocktail Ottoman as an example, and explains, “This is a great piece. You can sit on it, put your feet on it, or set an oversized tray on it and it becomes a coffee table. The best part… remove the top and it becomes a great place to store pillows, blankets (if you have that AC set on high!), magazines, and toys.”
Furniture… it’s not just pretty, it can also be functional! Check in next Monday for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
When it comes to interior design, sometimes it’s best to go the unconventional route.
For example–the coffee table. It’s been a living room staple for years. But who just sits around and sips coffee or tea anymore?
That brings us to this week’s #DecoratingSolutions Tip of the Week. It comes from Waukesha Interior Decorator Rhonda Vivoda.
Rhonda’s words of wisdom: “Instead of a coffee table use a big ottoman or a couple smaller ottomans. Ottomans are great because they can act as additional seating, footrests, or you can put trays on top and still use them as coffee tables. Sometimes an ottoman can be a storage unit as well!”
So put your feet up and relax, or sip your tea from a tray. The all-purpose ottoman is ready for you! We post a quick and easy decor tip each Monday. Check in next week for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
It’s Monday, and you’re probably feeling tired and a little uninspired. Well, here’s your Steinhafels #DecoratingSolutions Tip of the Week to give you a burst of motivation!
This week we look at ways to make your storage stylish. Just because it’s functional doesn’t mean it can’t be fun and trendy.
That brings us to our tip from Interior Decorator Laura Hoffman of our Appleton store:
“Incorporate storage wherever you can. It’s easy–just measure the space and add fun baskets, containers, or other organizers. These were just plain shelves at the end of a kitchen island before I transformed them into a fun and functional focal point!”
We post a different quick and easy decor tip every Monday. Check in next week for another #DSTipOfTheWeek.
